Climb into the open cockpit of a vintage De Havilland Tiger Moth for a classic aerial adventure. Don a Biggles-style flight jacket and board the Tiger Moth after a pre-flight safety briefing from an experienced pilot. Once at altitude, enjoy an incredible bird’s-eye perspective of the landscape below as the pilot completes a series of adrenaline-pumping aerobatic manoeuvres (subject to weather conditions and at the pilot’s discretion). During the session, get a chance to take over the controls and experience the breathtaking sensation of piloting such an amazing aircraft first-hand. This experience also includes entry to the IWM Duxford (and half price entry for any guests).

Selected Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday dates throughout the main flying season from March to October.

Flying is weather dependent and it is crucial you call the weather line (after 8.30am please) on the day of the flight. The Tiger Moth is an vintage open-cockpit plane and certain weather conditions may result in the flight being rescheduled.

How long does the experience last?

The flight last for around 20 minutes from chocks-off to chocks-on. Please arrive 45 minutes before the allotted start time, or call the venue if delayed. Allow for at least one hour on-site.

How many other people?

The briefing may be shared, but only you and your qualified pilot are in the aircraft during the flight. The museum is very popular and can get busy on summer weekends and school holidays.

Can I take people to watch?

Visitors are welcome and can get half price entry rates to the museum. Please note that all spectators have to enter the museum to watch any take off. A camera and a pair of binoculars come in handy. Pets are not permitted at the airfield.

What do I wear?

Tiger Moths have open cockpits, so wrap up warm. Wear soft-soled shoes. Bring sunglasses and tie back long hair. Flying kit (jacket, headset and helmet) is provided.

Are there any restrictions?

Minimum age is 16. Maximum weight 18 stone. Minimum height 4’11”. If you fit into a standard car seat you should be comfortable in the cockpit. Unsuitable for pregnant women or anyone unable to climb into the open cockpit.

Anything Else?

These vintage aircraft are scrupulously maintained and serviced to ensure your safety. MUST take the booking confirmation letter on the day in order to guarantee participation.
