A great Driving Experiences Experience located in several locations..
Take to the air for an exhilarating 60 minute flight in a light aircraft. Begin the experience on terra firma with a comprehensive briefing on flying techniques and safety, before climbing aboard a two seater training plane, or nimble motorglider with a fully qualified instructor. Each venue flies a different craft but, with famous names from Cessna to Piper on the cockpit, a thrilling session is guaranteed. Then it’s chocks away for an hour long flight and once in the air (at the pilot’s discretion), take over the controls to experience the absolute joy of flying a plane – the feeling of control is brilliant, not to mention the breathtaking views.
Many venues operate seven days a week all year round. Please note that weekends are particularly busy – book several weeks in advance. During the winter months flights are usually run earlier in the day, during daylight hours.
Flying is a weather dependent activity and it’s essential to call the venue for a weather check before setting out. If the flight is cancelled because of the weather, it will be re-booked for an alternative date or time.
Lasts for about 80 minutes, including a 60 minute flight. Flight times are approximate and are the chocks-off to chocks-on duration.
The briefing might be shared. The flight is held on a one-to-one basis with the instructor.
Spectators are welcome to watch take off and land.
Wear flat-soled shoes. Sunglasses are recommended all year round.
Restrictions vary according to venue. As a guide, the min age is 14 – 16, min height 4′ – 4’10”, max height 6′ – 6’6” and max weight 15 – 18 stone. Some venues ask for a name and address or photo ID on the day for security reasons.
Flying time can count towards a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). To qualify for a PPL 35 hours of dual control and 10 hours solo flying are required.
