Get a load of this Vintage Flying Experience near Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire.
Built in 1911, The Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge is the UK’s first ever bungee jumping site. On arrival, get weighed and issued with a back- up harness before tackling an epic 210 step climb to the top of the bridge. Once at the top, walk 150 feet along to the jump zone and admire incredible views of the surrounding area whilst contemplating the descent. After some thorough safety checks and choice words of wisdom, take a giant leap towards the River Tee’s before the bungee rope stretches to its limit and pings back towards the sky. After a few repetitions, get carefully lowered to a waiting speed boat. Once back on firm ground, pick up a certificate as a memento of this incredible experience.
At least two Sunday mornings a month throughout the year.
High winds or heavy rain may affect this experience. If in doubt, please be sure to call the centre to check before you leave.
After registering, a bungee time slot is allocated and the jump usually takes place within an hour. Safety checks, briefing and harnessing take around three minutes and the jump itself lasts just a few heart stopping seconds.
You’ll jump on your own, but there will be others waiting their turn.
Spectators are welcome to watch your jump from the viewing area approximately 100 yards from the site – get them to bring along a camera or video.
Wear long trousers rather than a skirt (you’ll be upside down!). Glasses and hard contact lenses must be removed prior to jumping.
