You’ll love this riding experience. The centre is set in grounds of 20 acres at the foot of Epsom Downs and has developed to become a top training and examination centre for the British Horse Society Assistant Instructor exams. Start with coffee and biscuits while you register and receive a safety talk. Choose lunch from the menu, which will be pre-ordered before the fun begins as you get to know your horse and the instructors assesses your skills in the arena. You will then ride to the beautiful area of Headley, where you will stop for your picnic before riding back to the stables.
Subject to availability, one Thursday a month throughout the year. Book as far in advance as possible.
Riding may be cancelled or curtailed in extreme weather (e.g. heavy rain or snow) for your safety as well as that of your horse. If you have any concerns about the weather, please call the venue before leaving home.
Riding time will be around three hours and lunch will last approximately one hour, with time to enjoy (and properly digest!) your meal before getting back into the saddle.
Groups average six people and will be no larger than eight. You will be accompanied at all times by two instructors.
Wear comfortable clothes (e.g. leggings, jodhpurs or track suit bottoms) with wellingtons or riding boots. Jeans, trainers and lace-up shoes are not recommended. You can wear your own hat (if it conforms to safety standards) or the venue can provide one.
Minimum age is seven. Maximum weight is 15 stone (venue reserve the right to weigh on the day). Riding experience is needed, you must be able to walk or trot. The mount is matched with riders age, weight and any riding experience.
Riding experience and an ability to walk and trot confidently is necessary.
